SOLAR HEATING SYSTEM CONSTRUCTION LOG

9: Plumbing the solar collectors and manifold
There are an awful
lot of parts involved in plumbing a solar
heating system.
So far I've made over 5 trips to the hardware store
to figure out
all the parts needed.
The plumbing itself
goes slowly, one step at a time. I began on the outside
and hooked up
the collectors and an air vent at the top of the system.

I have started
on the interior manifold that includes the
fill valves,
temperature, and pressure gauges, heat exchanger
and expansion
tank.
Here it is in
progress on the floor...
All this gets
mounted to the wall when it's finished.
The last part
arrived today - the 80 gallon storage tank. This is
actually an ordinary
electric water heater, only I won't use
the heater elements.
